Halloween 2010

Halloween 2010 was all about Rachel.  We were given a bunch of hand-me-down costumes and we reveled in dressing her up all month long for no special reason or party.

She wore her ladybug costume to run errands with me.

She wore her bee costume to the pumpkin patch.  I LOVE the stinger on her bum.

I wasn't too worried about her costume until Rachel and I found a witch hat and a black cat bucket in Target.  Rachel LOVED the hat and bucket.  She loved them so much that we had to hide them so they wouldn't be destroyed before Halloween.  I think I can say that she chose her costume this year.

We had so much fun dressing her up for the big Halloween carnival at church.

Here she is casting her spell over the house.

Her dad took her hat to mend the brim.  So she put her bucket on her head.  It's sort of ironic that she carried a bucket when she didn't do any trick-or-treating.

The carnival was a roaring success.  Tons of booths and treats.  But, our favorite part was the owl.

As always I took many many pictures.

The carnival was on Friday the 29th.  Rachel dressed up for the trick-or-treaters on Saturday the 30th as a winged skeleton.  Her "wand" is a flower her dad brought her from the yard.  Yes, it's the end of October and we still have flowers.

"Dad.  My flower broke."

Some might say I have too much fun playing dress up with my "live doll."  But I think that Rachel enjoys it as much as I do.

This video covers our Halloween adventures.  I chose the music to fit her personality and not necessarily the occasion.

  1. I should add that Tia Chapman took the pictures at the ward party. I can't take credit for the cool owl pics.

  4. Wow, 4 costumes! Dang, I wish I had 4 costumes for my kids. It was a pain dressing them up as the same thing for 3 days straight. One night I was up late washing Brooklyn's clothes just so they were clean. That video was adorable. Does Rachel love the song The Wiseman built his house upon the rock? It looks like you were singing that in the video. If so, that is Eliza's very favorite song! Oh, and had I known you had the ladybug costume, I would have brought Eliza over in the very same costume so they could be ladybugs together. Though Eliza's wasn't too happy in that costume.

  5. Funny, I had 4 costumes with only the ward carnival. We could have totally shared with Eliza.

Rachel loves doing the actions to quite a few songs. Her favorites are Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Wise Man and The Foolish Man, My Hands upon My Head, and If You're Happy and You Know It.

Rachel is a funny girl. She loves anything with accessories or hats. So she liked the bee and ladybug costumes. She would cry if I took the hood down. :)

They would be cute little ladybugs. The nursery leaders said that Rachel and Eliza were 2 little dolls sitting side by side on Sunday. I think Eliza's sharing snacks bought Rachel's friendship. I love it!
