On Saturday, August 8th, Doug, Rachel and I drove up to Island Park, ID for the South family reunion (my dad's side of the family). We camped near Chick Creek. But, most of the festivities were hosted in the "Reunion Dome" built by my Uncle Randy. (Click here for more information on Monolithic Domes.)
Rachel LOVED the whole experience. She was allowed to wander aimlessly and explore.
She met new people and made new friends.
She was allowed to get dirty. She played in the rocks and dirt for a good 30 minutes.
She even got to go hiking. She experienced new terrain, new flora, fauna, and insects.
The South family knows how to have fun.
Mostly it was just great to see family.
Thank you to everybody that helped plan, prepare, cook and entertain us. I hope we can do it again next year. Next year I won't have to duck out early because I'm secretly sick with pregnancy. Some of these images were taken by Jen Lund.
How fun. That looks like a lot of fun. Question: did any of the kids that were thrown up in the air actually land and hit the ground (obviously by accident)? It looks like a blast, but it looks as if there were a few close calls. Just curious :)
ReplyDeleteThere were some close calls but no accidents. It would have been hard for me to have allowed my kids to participate.
ReplyDeleteMy family lovingly calls the South family reunion as "Danger Reunion." It wouldn't be a reunion without a couple of different ways of getting hurt.
We left before the "Tom Creek Races." They include jumping off a small bridge into a shallow creek.
Ah! the Danger Reunions! We were so sad to miss it this year. :( Thanks for posting those great pics - fun to see everyone.
