Adventures in Eating

I think someone is too attached to the bottle when they won't even allow the dolly to have hers.

I am trying to introduce Rachel to lots of new foods.  This day's menu?  PBJ Sandwiches, carrot sticks and ranch dressing.  She mouthed the sandwich without biting or swallowing.  The carrots became the delivery system for the ranch dressing.

Soon Rachel realized that it was much quicker to just scoop it up in her hand.

Later she even tried to drink the dressing completely bypassing the hands and the carrots altogether.

I get really frustrated when randomly she decides that a tried and true food, like scrambled eggs, just isn't worth eating.

I guess these eggs were much more fun on her tray than in her stomach.

  1. I think everything she does is just cute! Way to go with exploring food. I have one very picky one who won't try anything new, I sometimes wonder if I started too late with trying new things or if he's just that way. :)

  2. You're great to document all the new food adventures. She is so fun to watch. What kid doesn't devour Ranch? At least she realized it's greatness at a young age. :)

  3. Wow, that was like reading a blog post about Eliza! Toddlers are such picky eaters and it's easy to get very frustrated by it (at least it is for me). I never know what she wants to eat because it's constantly changing!

  4. It's nice to know there are others out there fighting this battle.

Yes, Angie, Rachel's selective picky eating causes me angst. I just want her to have a good variety, good nutrition and simple preparation for me. The only food I am guaranteed (for now) is macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese, and noodles with butter sauce.

  5. Yeah, my kids both would eat or suck on anything as long as there was 'dip dip' involved.
