April 12th

This morning started out the same as any other.  Get everybody dressed.  Feed everybody breakfast.  Then bring on the daily entertainment.

For Joseph...

Paradise in swing form.

Rachel doodles on paper while Doug attempts to work.

Then there was a test of the "emergency broadcast system" for the Goodwin family.  Doug's dad, Reese, was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  The entire family gathered to hear more about the test results and what would happen moving forward.

Annie, Madison and Hannah

Hunter and Gracie,

Abigail, Greg and Alexandria

Rebecca

Nate

Laura and McKenzie

and Rachel, Joseph, Doug and I gathered in family counsel.

Dad explained the options for treatment and the expectations for the cancer.  In essence it is a very small growth of non-aggressive cancer.  He has multiple options for treatment.  They even surmise that if it were left alone that Reese wouldn't really feel the effects of it for 10 years.

Mom also shared a message of hope with the family.  Each son or daughter received a painting of Jesus Christ.  It was to remind them/us that we are never alone.  Every tear we shed is felt and shared by our Savior.  Turn to him and he will buoy you up.

On the way home we stopped to look at carpet at a discount store called Ward's Carpet.  We decided on a carpet and 3 days later it was installed in our 2 basement bedrooms. Hurray!

By the time we got home it was dinner time.  Which was quickly followed by bath time.  Rachel is an old pro after 2 years of baths.

Joseph is much much more apprehensive about the whole thing.

Rachel never left the bathroom and would be tub side anytime Joseph began to cry.

Joseph is always so relieved to find himself wrapped in a warm towel.  Who doesn't like a fresh warm towel?

The rest of Rachel's time was used up showing her stacking cups to Zoe.

Rachel loves to help load the washer.

We finished out the evening by watching a few minute of Caillou before sharing a scripture story and having Rachel's prayer.

What a short, yet action packed, day.

12 on November 12

Stacy Julian of Big Picture Scrapbooking suggests taking 12 pictures on the 12th of each month. The idea is that it will give you a snapshot of a day in your life. And, over the years, you can look back and see how those days have changed. I put a couple of extra pictures in because they helped tell the story.

So, without further ado, I give you...

12 On November 12th

Rachel plays on the floor.

I do laundry in my pajamas.

My laundry sprite cheers me on.

Doug does his work for Discover Card.

I work on the computer, blogging, facebooking, and

editing family photos.

Rachel gets her diaper changed.

She eats oatmeal and peaches.

She watches Baby Einstein "Baby's First Moves" after her nap.

I reclaim the kitchen.

Doug prepares for sheetrock.

Dad Goodwin comes to help.

They unload the sheetrock.

The home improvement sprite is always near.

Rachel shows off her "I'm a Little Teapot" pose.
