Most of my siblings remember playing with the buttons. I remember she would pour a bunch of buttons into a muffin tin and let me sort them. I'd sort them into shapes. I'd mix them in again and sort them into sizes. Then I'd sort them into colors again. I'd examine the textures and compare them with each other. I might find my favorite and set it aside to admire throughout the game. I loved it.
I was beyond thrilled when I was given the button collection for Christmas last year. I have it proudly displayed in the hall. Rachel loves the buttons too. I don't let her sort them obviously. Can you say "choking hazard?"
She likes to shake the buttons. She lines up the bottles and pretends to count them. I look forward to sharing this "game" with her as she grows.
One of Rachel's new favorite things is kissing. She presses her lips together, then touches them to something and makes the cutest little kissing noise. She kisses everything. She'll kiss her book, then come kiss your toes, kiss her teddy bear, then kiss the baby gate. Here she is kissing the air after kissing a bottle of buttons. I must say, it is adorable, although somewhat unsanitary sometimes.
As with all toys, eventually she becomes bored and moves on to something else. I just hope she doesn't pick up texting too soon.
