Joseph's First Birthday Party

I have always adored birthdays.  I love having a special day to celebrate each unique arrival on the earth.  I enjoy my birthdays.  I claim all 36 I've had so far.  So, it is no wonder that I went out of my way to make Joseph's 1st birthday one for the books.


We had fun decorations.




We ate "cub" cakes with paw prints and gummy bears picnicking.
 


We snacked on bears, bears and more bears.  Gummy bears, cinnamon bears, chocolate covered bears and even teddy bear trail mix.

We enjoyed the company of friends and family.


 



Rachel got this car for her first birthday.  I thought it was appropriate that it found it's way to the party.

Joseph was mesmerized by the candle.


But he needed some help blowing it out.


Mmmmmm.  Cake cake cake cake cake.




 



Joseph had cake everywhere.



 

He even had frosting in his eyelashes.


The birthday festivities ended with a much needed bath.

Rachel's First Birthday Party Invitation

Rachel was invited to a neighbor friend's birthday party. 


She didn't show much enthusiasm at the door.  But her exuberance grew bigger and bigger as she thought about all that might be entailed.  She danced around and showed me the invitation over and over again. I almost had to let her take the paper to bed.  She couldn't even take her eyes off the paper long enough for this picture.
