We took Rachel to her first movie. Well, technically the first movie where she would pay attention. We took her to see "The Princess and the Frog." I snapped some pictures of my princess and her frog prince in anticipation.
I totally spaced taking pictures on January 12th. It wasn't until the next morning that I even realized I'd missed it. So, I will take pictures, or come up with representations for the following 12 events of January 12.
1. I continued to pack up Christmas decorations.
2. I got the books I ordered from Amazon. "Strangling Your Husband Is Not an Option" (for January's Book Group). "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" (for February's Book Group). "Fix, Freeze, Feast" and "The Freezer Cooking Manual" (so I can learn to freeze my own meals).
3. I talked to my Rebecca on the phone. It's always nice to talk to my sisters.
5. Rachel opted for playing with her toys instead of napping.
6. Zoe played (for pictures see #7)
7. I practiced making videos
8. I made a "missionary map" of the ward. Essentially a street map with the houses labeled.

9. Doug performed a bunch of cool experiments with the scouts.
10. We hung out with our our coolest 19 year old nephew, Kaleb. Yes, he really is doing an invert. No, this picture was not taken on the 12th, or by me.
11. Doug, Rachel and I got all dressed up. Doug and I got our temple recommends renewed.

12. Doug and I watched American Idol and ate popcorn.
Christmas is always a wonderful time of year. This is the fourth Christmas Doug and I have celebrated together. Having Rachel in our home made it a thousand times more magical.
Christmas lights beamed brighter,
Christmas carols were cheerier,
and our smiles were bigger.
We spent Christmas Eve with the Goodwin clan in Provo, UT.
Rachel had a great time seeing her aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
The turkey, gravy and mashed potatoes were so good that I craved them for a week.
Rachel received her first pair of Christmas Eve pajamas.
All of the kids show off their new pajamas.
Christmas morning was so much fun. Doug and I enjoyed getting up around 8:30am. We know this is one of the last years we get to sleep in.
Santa brought everybody customary treats.
Rachel LOVED the book and Holiday Elmo he brought her.
She got really pretty good at opening presents by the end of our festivities. We were spoiled by all of the family. Thanks everybody for the great gifts!
Santa brought Doug Marble Mania to share with Rachel.
She caught a marble. She was so proud of herself.
It was a great season filled with family and friends. I can hardly wait until next year.
