Standing

Yes, folks.  He's standing.  He pulled himself into a standing position.

Now all he has to do is perfect it and he'll be unstoppable.  Hang in there Joe.

The Work of Children

They say that play is the work of children.

"Look!  A temple!"

"See the green door on the front?"

"I know, right?!"

It's fun to think of how we are building these kids to be the leaders of the future.  Maybe she'll be an architect.  Maybe he'll be a doctor or a loving father.

All I know for sure is that they can achieve anything they set out to do.  But, for now, I'm just going to encourage them to play.

Star light, Star bright

Star light, star bright,

The first star I see tonight,

I wish I may, I wish I might,

Have the wish I wish tonight.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Kneeling

Hi Mom!  I'm kneeling!

Crawling

(12/1/2011)  Joseph has been threatening to crawl for months.  We expected him to start by scooting, shuffling or sliding.  Instead, he just picked himself up and began crawling with perfect form.  He was bent on getting his hands on Rachel's Candyland game.

Joseph's 7.5 Months Pictures

Joseph continues to be a shining part of our lives.  Our family would not be the same without him.

He loves the camera.  His head swivels whenever he sees the camera flash.  Then he flashes his killer smile.

What a ham!

He has a generally easy, gentle nature.  He is a wonderful sleeper.  He loves to be held.  And he loves to laugh.

He loves being spoon fed.  He will drink less milk if he knows oatmeal is coming.

Gotta love this guy!

Bouncer

"Yes, I like my pink bouncer."

"Do you have a problem with that?"

A Basket Built for Two

(Sung to the tune of Bicycle Built for Two)

Rachel!  Rachel!
Give me your answer do!

I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you!

It won't be a speedy passage,

In my little plastic carriage.

But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a basket built for two.

The State Fair

September 15, 2011

We went to the Utah State Fair.  It was quite an ordeal.  I had purchased discount tickets online.  But, we forgot them.  So we had to pay full price at the gate.  GRRRRR.

A couple of years ago I bought a necklace chain from one of the vendors.  I was severely disappointed when they weren't there.

But we had fun looking at the animals.  They even had kangaroos.  We enjoyed some scones and ice cream.  And Rachel and Doug took a ride on the train.

It's fun to see them sharing memorable moments.

She loves trains.

We had a lot of fun.  Then we happily went home to our comfortable beds.

Stuck: Again and Again

I'm stuck again.

Don't worry.  There's a book over there.

I'm good.

I'm stuck AGAIN!

This is the end!

I.  HAVE.  HAD.  IT!

Oh Wait!  Never mind.

Big Girl Bed

We tried to move Rachel to her big girl bed back in May. But it just didn't work.  We bought Joseph a crib and have left her bed alone.  To help ease the transition we put the bedding from the big kid bed in her crib.  This week we took down her crib and moved the bed into it's place.  Rachel was so excited.

We are thrilled.  She has taken to it without any problems.

She still naps.  Hurray!  I'm trying to teach her to come get us in the morning.  But she doesn't get out of bed unless we come and get her.  I know, right!?  She just plays on her bed!

Here she is ready to sleep.  Dumbo and Teddy have to be in their positions, on their back, under the covers.

Good Night Sweet Pea!  Good Night!

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

July 22, 2011

No matter how cold or snowy it gets this winter.  We can remember that the sun WILL come out again.  This July day was HOT, HOT, HOT.

Hogle Zoo

We went to Hogle Zoo July 16, 2011.  I immediately started on a video to showcase Rachel's cute voice and reactions.  I finished it today.

The zoo is fun.

Even in sweltering heat.

We loved watching the baby elephant.

Juggling strollers and cameras added to the excitement.

Animals.  Animals.  Animals.

Trying to get a better look at the giraffes.

Just chillin'.
