Doug's & Rachel's Gift

Saturday evening, after all the hoopla was over.  Doug took Rachel on a secret mission.  She came in from the garage holding these flowers and a card.  The card said, "Thank you for giving birth to me."

Doug learned about this tradition from a friend.  Each year the birthday kid helps pick out a gift for mom in celebration of her gift.  It's a way to teach the children to honor the role their mother plays.  I think it's a beautiful idea.
