This was an average Tuesday in our world. I woke up to the sound of Rachel talking to Ellie in her crib. Doug mumbled our morning prayer and I willed my bones out of bed. Rachel ate oatmeal for breakfast mixed with prune juice for sweetener. Doug graciously cleaned her up afterward because I had taken up residence on the couch. He took his bowl of fruit loops and left for work in his basement office. Zoe trailed behind him.
Rachel played with her toys. Then turned to reading books.
One book at a time won't do. All of the books must be pulled from their place.
On Monday I purchased some fall decorations. I found a black canister at DI and some cheap fall foliage at Michael's. I am in love with all the beautiful gold and orange hues.
Rachel watches "Sesame Street" while I prepare lunch.
I am trying really hard to get Rachel weaned off of her bottle. This meal went a little better than the rest. She, the floor and her high chair stayed mostly dry.
Much to my dismay, Rachel woke up after only a 45 minute nap. She cried for a long time after waking up. Which, in these pregnant days, makes me cry because I'm too tired to handle it well.
In desperation I put "Signing Time" on. Rachel LOVES signing. She picks up a new sign almost every day. I am shocked at her vocabulary. Incidentally, "Signing Time" is now on UED. The videos regularly cost $30 a piece.
It did wonders for her mood...and mine.
I finally took my shower at 3:30pm and dressed for the day.
After work Doug, Rachel and I went to the NPS store. NPS buys all of the stuff that falls off the back of a truck. Boxes are often battered but the product is still good. Going to NPS is a little like a treasure hunt. It's a hit or miss kind of activity.
After NPS we went to Costco. Sometimes I think we live at Costco. They sell the milk we prefer and the bread is cheaper than other stores so we often go twice a week. This trip we decided to invest in a bread maker for my resident bread baker.
After dinner Rachel decided to do some more reading. I hope she can keep up this voracious appetite for books throughout her life.
Doug tried the bread maker out. He is so nice about helping Rachel see what's going on.
After this full day I was glad to put Rachel to bed. Every night she practices her toothbrushing skills.
Doug and I ended our day cuddled up on the couch. We watched "New in Town" with Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick, Jr. It wasn't Oscar worthy but it made us laugh.
