Jesse and I had our second doctor's visit yesterday. We were able to hear the baby's heartbeat, 145 beats per minute which my mom suggests may be a boy. We will know when we hit 20 weeks (6 weeks or so) and have an ultrasound to determing the gender. The doctor said the heartbeat sounded very healthy and was comforting as Jesse continues to not feel well.
This past week I had to travel to Chicago for business and Jesse caught what she thought was a cold. By Saturday she had a fever and was prescribed some antibiotics. The medication has seemed to help a little, but at the expense of added stomach discomfort. It was hard being away knowing that she was sick. I'm amazed that I didn't catch a cold or other sickness as I arrived in Chicago during the middle of an especially cold period. When I landed at 11:30am, the outside temperature was -9 farenheit. Overall, we are doing well and look forward to the second trimester hoping that Jesse's energy will return and the stomach pains will ease.
